At Bailey-Boushay House, we focus on helping our clients stay on the medications they need to improve their health and prevent the spread of HIV. Having a safe shelter is critical to their success.

Our overnight shelter for homeless clients provides beds for up to 50 of our most vulnerable clients in the HIV Outpatient Program.

Getting them off the street and into permanent housing is the next step in our Housing Stability Project.

Stability Takes More than a Rent Check

Bailey-Boushay House administers a federal rental assistance program to benefit homeless men and women with HIV in the Seattle area.

Rental assistance is vital, but for people who have been homeless for a long time, it takes more than a rent check to succeed in permanent housing. It takes life skills they may have long forgotten.

That's why our social workers developed a skill-building curriculum, with classes on:

  • Creating a housing plan
  • Completing rental applications
  • Tracking monthly rent checks
  • Managing stress
  • Resolving conflicts
  • Living in a community

We also coordinate help for resolving legal issues, do individual and group counseling, and provide Chemical Dependency Outreach services.

Bailey-Boushay House is the only organization of its kind in the U.S. to tackle permanent housing for those who are homeless and living with HIV/AIDS.

We believe housing stability does much more than keep people safe and warm. It helps them lead healthier lives with a much greater measure of dignity and respect.
