Built by AIDS Housing of Washington, now known as Building Changes, Bailey-Boushay House opened its doors on June 24, 1992 as America's first skilled nursing facility that was planned, funded, built and staffed to meet the needs of people living with AIDS.
Virginia Mason Medical Center — a leading health care provider — has operated Bailey-Boushay House since the day we opened, ensuring those who come to Bailey-Boushay House receive the highest quality care available.
On Dec. 1, 2007 in conjunction with World AIDS Day, Building Changes transferred ownership of Bailey-Boushay House to Virginia Mason, ensuring a sustainable future for Bailey-Boushay House within the larger Virginia Mason Health System.
